Rebuilding Together and Lowe’s Repair Six Glendale Homes as Part of 28th Annual ‘Kickoff to Rebuild’ Program During Super Bowl LVII Weekend

GLENDALE, AZ, February 10, 2023 – Rebuilding Together, a leading national nonprofit rebuilding communities in need, has partnered with Lowe’s, the Official Home Improvement Partner of the NFL, to provide essential home repairs for six families in Glendale’s beloved Ocotillo Rose neighborhood. On Friday, Feb. 10, Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette and New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave joined more than 200 volunteers from Lowe’s, local contractors and members of the community to help revitalize the community as part of Kickoff to Rebuild, an annual Super Bowl-sanctioned event.

“At Rebuilding Together, we believe that every person deserves to live in a safe and healthy home,” said Caroline Blakely, President and CEO of Rebuilding Together. “Through the Kickoff to Rebuild program, we’ve repaired more than 170 homes, engaged more than 5,000 volunteers and invested more than $5 million to communities in need.”

“The homes that we repaired during Kickoff to Rebuild addressed urgent needs for lifelong Ocotillo Park residents,” said Janice Dupré, Lowe’s executive vice president of human resources. “As part of Lowe’s longtime partnership with Rebuilding Together, we are proud to have more than 120 local Lowe’s store associates volunteer their time and skills to preserve the area’s heritage and help homeowners remain in place, more safely.”

This year’s event is led by the nonprofit’s local affiliate, Rebuilding Together Valley of the Sun, which has helped provide more than 500 Arizona families with safer community spaces and healthier homes over the past 30 years. As part of this project, volunteers repaired leaking roofs and ceilings, completed grab bar installations and window replacements, as well as beautified houses by painting and landscaping. Additionally, the Swift Kids Branch of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley – located in the heart of Glendale and providing resources to 120 youth – will receive various repairs and upgrades.

“Many of the homes we repaired today have been passed down from generation to generation and have become a core part of the neighborhood's history and identity,” said Jenna Wasylak, Community Programs Director of Rebuilding Together Valley of the Sun. “We are so grateful to all our partners, volunteers and contractors who are helping to rebuild and revitalize communities at no cost to neighbors in need.”

The work occurred in the Ocotillo Rose neighborhood, a community located within a five-mile radius of State Farm Stadium, site of Super Bowl LVII. The neighborhood is vibrant with Hispanic culture and is made up of mostly multigenerational families.

Lowe’s has partnered with Rebuilding Together since 2007, and more than 4,400 Lowe’s associates have assisted neighbors all over the U.S. Additional sponsors who make Kickoff to Rebuild in Glendale possible include ADT, Wells Fargo, Republic Services, Brooklyn Bedding and the City of Glendale.
